About RTB

Raising the Bar (RTB) is dedicated to creating healthier environments at youth-centered events by reshaping social norms around adult alcohol and substance use.

"As a parent of school-age kids and a councilmember who has talked to hundreds of parents and community members, I know the need and desire to keep our kids safe from alcohol and substance abuse.  Raising the Bar is an effective program that has been helping our kids and their families make healthier choices and overcome Marin's legacy of above average youth alcohol and drug abuse."

Gabe Paulson, Larkspur City Councilmember

History

Launched in 2017 by Marin Healthy Youth Partnerships and the Marin Prevention Network, Raising the Bar addresses the concerning trends of excessive drinking and underage substance use in Marin County. With the support of over 70 schools, 21 youth organizations, and more than 300 field signs displayed in both English and Spanish, we strive to empower parents as role models.

Beyond Marin

Our impact has extended beyond Marin County with communities in Michigan and Massachusetts adopting Raising the Bar and our work being featured in the documentary Screenagers Under the Influence. This growing movement demonstrates the power of communities coming together to create healthier, substance-free environments for youth.

If you're inspired to bring Raising the Bar to your community, we'd love to connect. Join us in fostering safer, more positive experiences for youth — reach out to learn how we can work together.

Our School Partners

We are proud to partner with school districts across Marin County that are committed to creating substance-free youth events and actively working to reduce underage substance use in our community.

In addition, we collaborate with a variety of community organizations and sports teams to strengthen our collective impact and support healthier environments for youth.
